Just thought it would be fun to see what everyone is taking this semester..
I told my husband after sept 1st I will see him Dec 23..lol
I am taking:
Physiology of the Domestic Animal
Chem 2
Physics 1
Microbiology
Pre-calc
Very exciting..lol
 
Gen chem II + lab
Intro to crop science (major requirement)
Weed Science (major requirement)
Agricultural mechanics (major requirement)

My biggest concern is the apparent lack of rigor of my Fall semester, but oh well. I might add a class in, we'll see!

Dang, you guys are crazy! Those of you listing a bunch of units, do you not have to work or something?
Or do I just suck?

in addition to that I'm working on campus, will most likely be getting involved in research on campus, and will hopefully be volunteering at a large animal clinic and an animal shelter and getting a job at a small animal hospital....I like being busy haha
 
Squibby, don't worry! You're not the only one NOT taking eleventy-billion classes.

I'm taking endocrinology and HOPEFULLY Animal Nutrition online through Purdue.

On the other hand, I also work 35-42 hours a week, own a horse who I ride 3-5 days a week and show, and do pet sitting on the side. I generally have at least pet sitting job just about every week at this point with the sheer number of clients I have. Not to mention sometimes wanting to see my boyfriend and/or family. And I'm trying to arrange spending some time at a wildlife rehab center. *is dead of tired*:diebanana:

Should be a fun semester, hopefully Biochem isnt as scary as people say it is. I LOVED ochem, so I hope it is similar to that 🙂
 
For me, it's the very beginning of the post-baccalaureate program.

So Biology I with lab, General Chem I with lab.

If you had told me 25 years ago that one day I'd be this excited about classes starting, I wouldn't have believed you. 🙂

Wait wait wait....you said you loved ochem? Am I reading this correctly?? That is not right at all! Haha just kidding:laugh:

Physics II (have to retake, got C- last time)

I'll probably shed quite a few tears this semester b/c of organic. Word is the professor is an ass. When my mom took his class (she went to college later in her life), he told her that she wasn't smart enough to take his class!

Im absolutley terrified of Chem. Never took a chem class in my life and my first day (today) they were talking about cubic centimeters equaling 1mL and something about grams and my brain exploded. Just a little.
 
Taking my last 2 pre-reqs, biochemistry and genetics, which will be my last 2 undergraduate courses ever! I graduated in May, so I'm taking these two as a post-bacc student. Come the end of December, I will be a free man (at least for the next year and a half-ish).

Squibby - I think course loads also depend on the school you go to. The undergrad school I went to is known to be one of the most academically rigorous schools in the country (at least according to Princeton Review). So 4 courses was a normal load (and advisors generally suggest that freshman take 3 courses their first semester). You had to petition to overload if you wanted to take 5 courses, and the few students I knew who did overload ended up hating themselves by the end of the semester. However, I know that at the majority of other schools, 5 courses is a normal semester load, which I think is because the work load per class is less, and therefore 5 classes is more manageable.

In general, I think it's sometimes problematic to compare yourself to other folks on here when they go to different schools, and that a better way to figure out if you're taking a heavy enough load is to compare yourself to other pre-vet/pre-med students at your school.

I'm sure the material for the last two will be worthwhile and entertaining, but the first two might bore the crap out of me. I am glad that I did the Public Health minor in undergrad. I've already been introduced to one-third of the material. I'm hoping that will help out tons my first year of the program.

I'm really excited about fall quarter. It's gonna be my first year without any chemistry classes. I'm taking:

Intro to Sociology (gen ed that I've been putting off for three years)
Vertebrate Evolutionary Morphology
Evolution and Ecology of Terrestrial Vertebrates + lab

I'm also currently enrolled in an intro anthro course which was supposed to be another gen ed but then I figured out I already had that requirement finished so I'm going to drop it and see if I can crash Intro to Ecology.

I'm looking forward to everything except the soc class, which I'm kind of neutral about. But it's at a convenient time, so oh well.

Is there anybody else who is not taking classes? I am taking the next year off since I just graduated in May. I have no classes but will still be working around 40-50 hours/week as a vet tech at a small animal clinic and volunteering with horses once per week for about an hour each time. Anybody else doing the same thing that I am?

Honestly, I liked applying OChem in research extracting toxins from sea slugs, but the class sucked.

After Fall quarter I will be finished with my second bachelor's degree, and plan on rewarding myself with a winter packed with snowboarding in Tahoe.
I'm taking:
Qualitative Analysis (for my chem minor)
Evolution and Ecology (lame, didn't transfer from previous school)
History of CA (gen. ed. requirement)
Philosophy of Sex (hah!)
 
I'll be taking:
Developmental Bio w/ Lab
Ecology w/ Lab
Some Writing Class
General Zoology Lab - credits didn't transfer from previous school
Nutrition from Purdue (probably)

plus I'll be working 20-25 hours a week

but this is my last semester of undergrad

After an incomprehensibly difficult spring and summer that made me almost give up on vet med entirely (but instead I'm just taking another year of classes and applying next summer for c/o 2016), this fall I am taking:

-Organic I
-Organic I lab
-Botany (w/lab)
-Microbiology (lecture only)
-Histology (w/lab)

16 credits of awesomeness. And taking care of my own farm. And volunteering at the zoo. And at the shelter's hospital wing. My head already wants to explode, but at the same time I can't wait!!!

Same here!! Finally done with chemistry after Biochem whipped my butt last semester. I'm taking Human Histology, Medical Botany, General Physiology, The Bible As Literature, and Animal Nutrition.

And yeah, I made a specific point of avoiding Bertrand at all costs...I heard WAY too many horror stories about those pop quizzes 🙁
