just curious...and roughly how many of your classmates are also applying to med school? anyone out there from a liberal arts college? im from wesleyan u. (no, not the girls' school in boston....)

I'm from University of California, San Diego, and I think all 20,000 students are applying to med school.

P.S. They all scored 40 or higher on their MCAT. Good luck!

Nice, my alma mater! Just graduated from there in 2001.

BTW, my MCAT was way under 40. 😉

I graduated from Kalamazoo College. We had about 10 or so applicants to med school for the 2008 cycle. I think there were 3 that weren't accepted anywhere.

LSU...and we have two state med schools that take only state residents. 265 state slots for ~2500 apps

i'm from Baker University in Kansas, it's a very small liberal arts college. and i loved it! there are only two people in my class applying to med school-we only had 150 people in my class though. hopefully both of us will get in!

I'm from Wellesley - yes, the women's college in Boston. No idea how many of my classmates were pre-med, but I know it was a lot.

im from johns hopkins... i think its home of the premeds (though we really do have great programs for non-med ppl 🙂 ) and a large number of my classmates are applying.

I graduated from the University of Washington--5 years ago! So I have no idea how many of us are out there applying to med school--where are you, Huskies?

im at Coke U, aka Emory. I'd say that about 25% of my class is applying, but I could be wrong. Alot of people I know decide to take a year off before applying so I can't really say, but the school is probably 35% pre-med after all the weeding out.

I went to Case Western Reserve University (class of 2003). There were a fair number of premeds I guess, but as an engineering major I didn't know many of them. Of all the people I hung out with (as in I had conversations with them at some point outside of class, so a lot of people) I can only think of a handful of premeds. I guess I must have met more my last semester when I went premed, though.

also from hopkins. i would say it's about 200-300 out of a class of roughly 1000. does this sound about right sportschick??

I went to a very small catholic liberal arts college in Mass. I was one of five students who applied from my class when I graduated in 2001. I know that two are currently entering fourth year in DO school, one chose a different path after being waitlisted her first time applying, and I lost track of the other. I got in my second time around.

I bet you guys can't figure out where I go to school... 😉

yea, probably around there, maybe a bit less... god there are alot of us! You going to be a senior? i must know you from class...

UC Berkeley. In my opinion, the only school more competitive for pre-meds is Hopkins. Berkeley's a rough place to be if you're pre-med, sadly. At least it toughens you up...

UW...not many out of the 10,000 in my class. I would guess a couple hundred.

I don't know of any girls' school in Boston with a name similar to Wesleyan, but I do know of a women's college named Wellesley.

Duke.

My sig says it all. I dont know how many premeds are in my school but I'm sure there are many. A lot of Uva SOM people come from Uva, Duke, Hopkins, and W&M.

Rutgers.........not a premed so I have no clue.....

yes, we know Lousy-iana is a worthless state.

at columbia, i think there's about 200 applying this cycle....there were way more premeds that were weeded out, especially from biomed...but columbia is the smallest ivy, 1250 a class roughly.... so that's about 16 percent

University of Kansas here. Sadly I have no idea how many premeds are here, but there are quite a few.

University of Louisiana-Lafayette.

I know there are many pre-meds there; however, very frightening, that I don't know of any that actually get in!! :scared:

i'm from yale and about 300/1200 or so apply each year.

Boise State University. I have no idea how many we have here. I would say a lot relative to the school size.

I post shizzit like this just to piss off idiots like you! I'm from Boston..and I guess you think that Taxachusetts sucks too! 😴

I go to Virginia Tech, not too many premeds here
🙂 go hokies!

Northwestern University. home of the premeds turned succesful ibankers and consultants. don't thank me, thank bio210. i think 2001 of the 2000 or so people from each class start out premed. i think there a handful of yet kindred spirits who still have good gpa's and are yet excited about medicine because they managed to get out and take bio at harvard over the summer. BME is hard.

Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Go Kohawks!!!

I think there were 5 people that applied from my class...although that is only counting those that applied while in undergrad. More are applying now that they have had a taste of the real world. I would guess about 10 total.

Wash U. About 170 out of 1300-ish. Maybe 25 engineers.

Eastman School of Music
(As far as I'm aware, no one else from my class is applying!)

Emory class of 2002 right here! Probably 30 percent premeds there. Crazy SOB's!
TD

University of Texas at Austin... my premed career was fairly stress-free. I feel for you folks at Hopkins and Berkeley.

univ. of missouri in columbia.....in retrospect, the best decision i've ever made in my life

St. Mary's U in San Antonio, around 20 people applied from my class for the class of 2003. Now I am at UTEP, I have no idea how many undergrads are applying but I know two grads that are.

UCLA undergrad --- no idea how many applied there (wasn't a premed) but I'm sure it's a ton.

Columbia postbacc --- needless to say, everyone in my class (~100) applied.

Sad but true. Cal bear '02 🙄

Fortunately coming out of hopkins the application success is phenomenal! You get what you pay for!
