Is it okay to wear a yellow tie for interview??
Why on earth would anyone ever wear a yellow tie? I have never seen one that isn't ugly.
Is it okay to wear a yellow tie for interview??
So I just got back from the tailor. Turns out, my $1 suit (bought at a thrift store summer clearance sale, pretty nice actually) will cost $150 to tailor correctly. Dang.
Anyways, here are my options:
1) wear a suit from my brother's wedding. It's light brown/tan and fits beautifully... but this thread made me cringe about light suits
2) suck it up and pay for the alterations
3) go buy a new suit before my first interview in three weeks
Suggestions?
Jeebus $400-600 for a suit 😕 Go to the nearest clothing district next time. I spent $200 for an Yves St. Laurent outfit and it included Italian leather shoes.
My boss wore a VERY nice suit to a seminar the other day. I think that it might've been Zegna. Standing next to him, you could tell that a few of the other guys were wearing suits from Macy's. I agree, though, for a small interview like this a simple suit is fine.wtfff. are you sure you spent 200 for a suit and ITALIAN shoes?. By the way Italian shoes =/= made in italy. boxes that say italian shoes are usually made in china. it's not illegal to advertise at "italian" though because they can claim they are italian-styled or designed in italy.
Real italian shoes (even wholesale priced) are ~120. So i highly doubt you got a suit and that for 200 total. How is your suit? polyester? wool? made where? haha sorry for all the Qs.
I think the most cost efficient/nicest thing for people to do for a nice suit for med schools is go with 100% wool made in china/USA. That way it will cost approx. 200$ but it will be made of the soft/better material and it looks better as well - of course the quality isnt anywhere near italian...but for a 30 min interview no one will know if it's italian or made in china.
for shoes - Mezlans are extremely nice and a little cheaper than Italian ones. I own 2-3 pairs and love them. Theyre made in spain and very long lasting, elegant shoes. Only problem is theyll cost over 100 as well.

Anyone heard of Michael Kors? His suits fit me absolutely perfect. Bought one suit last year and one this year. Each one costed $169.
What I want to know is which brand works best for slender guys (think jacket 32S, shirt collar 14.5) that uses 3-buttons.
I already bought my suit but I'm still curious.
Yeah. Pants work fine. Shoulders were impossible, though. I finally got an okay suit for a fine price.32S?! how tall are u?! you must be smalll! im a 42R. and there isnt really a perfect brand for more slender people...just try em on and get one that doesnt have big shoulder padding - since you would look weird if the suit made you look like you had huge shoulders yet your waist and stomach would be very small - so id just make sure those are smaller 🙂

I'm 5'6'' but like 130 lb. Salespeople said I was right on the border between S/R but no 32R fit me.
Yeah, sleeves were taken in. I'm between 32/33 inch sleeve.Did they measure your arms with the tailor tape thing? if everything on the 32R fits perfect n you almost like the sleeves...they can adjust those a little n cut off an inch or two (say if it fit better than 32S after alterations)
