So what color tie are you going to wear to your interview? I can't decide to go with a plain color (like a green, or purple), or a pattern so that I stand out among all of the people in black suits.

uhhh... just wear whatever matches the color of your suit + your shift. Honestly, it really doesn't matter -- no one is going to remember what kind of tie you wore unless you have naked girls on it or something to that effect

can't go wrong with the 8 bit tie:

Bright yellow with purple polka dots and black diagonal stripes.

If you want to stand out, don't wear a solid color tie.

i wore a green stripped tie to one interview

and a more democratic party red with blue stripes to anothre one

but i dont think it really matters

Blue/black tie with blue shirt. It at least made me feel a little bit different from everyone else that wore a white shirt with red tie.

I'd go with the piano key necktie designed by Mugatu.

red or gold... a power tie

It makes you more convincing at your interviews and makes you more believable.

this is one of those things you don't "do right" you only "don't screw up."

Gold!?

I would suggest you stray away from your go-to power tie. A bright red "oath of office" tie is probably too aggressive for an interview (IMO).

Here are some that I wear to formal occasions, including interviews

Oh I really like the blue one but if you have the right suit, that marble yellow one really stands out and is very classy.

You could always go Mugatu style

Something that matches your eyes.....as my mother, my gf, and my gf's mom told me.

This is actually very good advice rarely taken by guys! If you have blue eyes, a really rich colored blue tie is great. If you have Green eyes, Emerald (and some rich reds like Burgendy also bring out green eyes). Got Brown eyes, a patterned brown tie is nice but if you have a black suit you may want to avoid brown so I would go with Dark purple or Yellow (something classy though like the yellow marble tie posted above. If it looks like Tweety could be on it, its the wrong shade of yellow). Hazel is tricky; you have to decide if your eyes are more green or brown and then follow the other color codes.

black with black sunglasses..... and go by only a random letter of the alphabet

That's all well and good, but how many blue ties can one man have! While it looks good sometimes, I don't think it's necessary to restrict yourself solely to ties that match your eyes, it could become very boring after a while.

When I interviewed wore a blue paisley tie and got a lot of compliments on it. I was told go with a conservative color and let a unique patter show off your personality.
