1.)Which courses are considered to be credited towards the science GPA?
2.)Will math courses such as calculus and statistics count towards it?
3.)Is nutrition considered a science GPA?

Thank you so much!

do a search before posting a thread. there are plenty of threads on this subject.

This. If you do a search you can probably find just about anything you want around here. The applicant sticky at the top of the forum is a particularly good place to start 🙂

For reference, sGPA, as far as AMCAS is concerned=BCPM=Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Math. Anything that is taught by those departments will definitely count. As far as nutrition goes, I know there is a list somewhere that lists all of the non-bio/chem/physics/math classes that can also be included in BCPM, but I'm not sure exactly where it is; again, try doing a search.

First and foremost, GoSpursGO, seaches do not lead to the posts you need without spending many hours and typing in different keywords and looking up under hundreds of pages of text. I hope I don't be as uptight when I am at med school. Anyways this a post I found:

Read this for BCPM questions: Complete List of BCPM Courses

First and foremost, GoSpursGO, seaches do not lead to the posts you need without spending many hours and typing in different keywords and looking up under hundreds of pages of text. I hope I don't be as uptight when I am at med school.

Um, I'm not quite sure how you got "uptight" from this post. Many new users don't know about the existence of the search function at all, so I was simply pointing it out. Furthermore, should they have any other basic application questions, the sticky I pointed them to should also be a helpful resource. Suggesting how they might find the answer to a question I did not know myself hardly seems uptight.

And for the record, I found the same list as you by searching "BCPM list" in about 5 minutes. So again, not that anyone won't answer a question even if it's been asked before, but I do think the search function is useful to new users and might find them their answer fairly quickly.

All of you don't need to jump down my throat because I hate it when they say "go look it up" when others don't spend countless hours on this forum. First of all, I was trying to be helpful. Second of all, GoSpursGo did not admit to not knowing it. I can't tell you how many countless times I gave up because I couldn't find a post within five minutes. Life is too short to spend a majority of it in front of a computer screen. And blame those who come up with weird names for threads and have to search through multiple pages of posts to just find one answer if it was not as general as the question the OP asked. Since I thought mods read every post on here, I thought you would be helpful but I guess not.

As far as nutrition goes, I know there is a list somewhere that lists all of the non-bio/chem/physics/math classes that can also be included in BCPM, but I'm not sure exactly where it is

First of all, mods are volunteers. There is no way on earth I could ever hope to read even 1% of all the posts on SDN, nor would I want to. We'll respond to posts that get reported, and when I see a newbie I try to point them in the right direction, but there's definitely no way I know exactly where everything is, because like you said, life is too short to spend a majority in front of a computer. So yes, I was trying to be helpful by telling him what I knew and then pointing him to where he might be able to find the rest of his answer. In general, the search function and ESPECIALLY the sticky that I pointed to are an excellent place to find answers to basic questions without having to wait for someone to come around and offer a response.

thx for that complete list. Don't wana look stupid but I think my case is quite confusing I have LMP course (which stands for Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology) would it be referred as Biology or Medicine course?
P.S lol personally would be so happy if that course is not considered bio

I took an Astronomy class at a community college a few years back. You could sign up for it as a Physics or Geology class, I signed up as it being Geology. Will it not count towards my BCPM because of the transcript saying its Geo- Intro to Astronomy or w/e?

Geo, Physics, and Astro are all factored into your science GPA, so which one it counts as is moot, right? It's still part of your BCPM grades.

it might be since it is pathobiology but the easiest way to verify is to call AMCAS.
