At my school there are 3 courses (1.5 years) of general biology that most students take. The courses are ecosystems/ecology, cell biology, and physiology.

I was wondering if ecosystems + cell biology would count as one year of biology or if cell biology + physiology counts as one year of biology in the eyes of dental schools.

I already took anatomy and physiology (2 semesters) and didn't take the general physiology course yet.

I was just wondering if it was necessary for me to take the general physiology course or if the courses I already took for general biology (ecology and cell biology) counts as one year of biology

General biology usually refers to Biology 1 and 2, which are counted towards pre-reqs.

Physiology, cell biology, and ecosystems are separate classes that are different than general biology classes that dental schools require you to take.

it's best to ask your biology advisor which courses are general. Like crown2018 mentioned, gen bio is the very first two classes offered.

I guess my university does things differently because those are the "general/introductory" courses offered to us for biology. Thanks for the tips! I'll definitively call dental schools to double check

My university didn't offer General Bio 1 and 2. They offered four courses consisting of Cell and Molecular Bio, Genetics, Ecology and Evolution, and Plant and Animal Physiology. All the schools I applied to accepted Cell and Molecular Bio and Genetics as my Bio pre reqs.
