Their adcom meets next Thursday. I think the deal with the regions is the adcom is broken into quarters, and each quarter looks at applications from one of the regions pinkertinkle listed, so they are familiar with the schools in that region... like what the easy majors and hard classes are, and what the premed committees are like. So each subcommittee picks the best however many (I was thinking around 10 but it could be more) applications from their region and sends them on to the full committee. I have no clue what the full committee does then - do they just rubber-stamp acceptances or do they actually debate the apps further?
Anyway, they'll send out letters to the lucky acceptances, and sometimes your interviewer might call or email you, depending on their personal style and whether they're busy. If you don't get accepted this month you might be chosen next month or the month after, so that's why they don't tell you when you will hear back. They don't even put together a waitlist until spring. My apologies if any of this is totally wrong! I'm just going by what I remember from the morning presentation.
I'm crossing my fingers that I hear something next week. Good luck to everyone else who's waiting!!
