As a reach the interview season of this tedious process, I want to reflect a little bit. I do not mean this post as a negative post, but I want it to be something we can all list what we have sacrificed for this goal in hopes of it aspiring some new pre-med to become more determined.

I'll go first (since this is my post). This goal has cost me spending time with friends and family. It has cost me countless hours of stress and worry (stupid MCAT). But overall, this goal has cost me my first love. Although she said she left for other reasons, I know that my drive to become a doctor played a big part as well. Anyways, would I do all this again knowing what it would cost? HECK YEA!!!! Being able to care for the sick is so close that I can almost taste it. To those new pre-meds, know that this goal will cost you something. Yet, knowing that you are entering the only profession that could ever make you happy is priceless. To those who are interviewing as well, know that you are not the only one who has had to sacrifice things for this goal. Well, feel free to post whatever.

*45% Less time with friends and received several "come play and quit doing what ever it is your doing discussions."
*70% Less time to pursue women. -but there is always time 😉
*90% Less time huntin' 😱
*30% Less time with family stuff
*60% Less time at the gym (kinda my fault too...)
*48% increase in stress, but with time I've learned to handle it better so this figure is really far lower. MCATs, grades, heartbreak, etc. Can't pierce this kevlar! 😎
*150% increase in medical knowledge overall. In all directions.
*Open doors-for possible back up jobs in the medical field
*Currently $2000 dollars and rising for application/interviewing costs.
*The peace of mind of strengthening my sense of purpose in my life.
+The worry of the little thought in the back of my mind of not obtaining my goal or achieving it and being struck by the greener grass on the other side of the fence syndrome.
*The best part is knowing the odds are increased for seeing more sunrises and sunsets on the way to and from my future practice. 🙂
