I got high surgery results mostly because I'm not the best at working with people and I like to work with my hands. I don't know why orthopaedics is so popular either. Probably the money (that's why derm is so popular). Anyway, I am interested in surgery, but I think I would prefer general or trauma.

General Internal Medicine or IM - Cardiology

What do you think of cardio surgery?

I have always been interested in Cardio surgery, but ruled it out of possible specialties due to the length of time required to be one. I'd like to start a life at some point. I don't really want to still be in school halfway into my 30's.

* Years of training required - Two years after successful completion of a five year general surgery residency. There are a very small number of positions offered in a six year Integrated Pathway for direct application from medical school.

So I'm 21 now. I'll apply to med school when I'm 22, almost 23. I'll turn 24 during MS1 and 28 when I graduate with an MD. As stated above, the program can run from 6-7 years. I'd be 34-35 when I could finally practice as an attending physician/surgeon.

Trauma isn't on here... but I really like the idea of Trauma.

Colon and rectal really isn't "asses" all day.

Very sick patients... Bad disease. It's a very important specialty.

You can mainly go outpatient like the Colon and Rectal Surgeons right next to my orthodontist. They have a good lifestyle and they get paid well... Something to consider.
