Has anyone ever heard of anyone getting into a DPT program with a degree in psychology? I'm going to be a junior in college and I'm almost finished with my DPT prereq's. However, I need to choose a major and finish up my degree. I was orginally planning on majoring in biology, but I've also always enjoyed psychology. I think my overall GPA would benefit if was to study psych vs. bio, but I'm worried that choosing what some might consider to be an "easier" major would make me less competitive than other DPT applicants...Should I just stick with bio?

this question gets asked about once a week.. and 99% of the time the person is considering/received a degree in psychology. the answer is yes, people do it all the time. no, it doesn't matter what you major in.. you only need to meet the pre-reqs. yes, you need to go with what will benefit your GPA the most but keep in mind your pre-req grades are going to be what really matters.

IMO, a psychology background would be beneficial. My officemate has her undergrad degree in psych.

I'm majoring in pre-physical therapy (but will get my degree in exercise science), but I do know many PT's who have a degree in psychology.

Not to sound like a jerk but you should know and maybe what you meant was you're majoring in exercise science but fulfilling PT prerequisites or ''on the PT track''. In other words your bachelors degree won't say Pre-Physical Therapy.
