so just what do the schools who will get our AMCAS applications see? do they see the same format that we see when we look at the print version of our application? do they see all of the schools to which we have applied?

do they see our grades as WE report them, or only as AMCAS interprets them. I have several A+ grades which AMCAS converted to A grades. (I realize that we don't get extra points for an A+ but it would be nice for the schools to see the A+ as an additional indication that we have performed at the very top of the class.)

Schools see them as the print version, post-AMCAS modifications.

Your 4.0 will show you were at the top of your class. It doesn't have that final "A+" polish, but AMCAS has to standardize in some way.

your A+ will not show on AMCAS. They get a special printed version in a format we have not seen. They showed it to us one of my interviews to make sure everything was up to date.

You do send your tanscripts in, and they are scrutinized as well, so there is a point to that A+ and schools will see it, so don't worry about it. I don't think they care though.

Even if Med schools could see your A+, do you think that it would change whether or not you are accepted to a particular school. An A is an A is an A. My school doesn't even give + or - so I don't think most med schools stress this when looking at your app. I can see your point though! It would be nice to recieve credit for getting a very high grade in a class. Plus, an A- can kill the GPA! I guess I'll just be thankful I don't have to worry about it.

That?s interesting?so how do they represent a 3.6 in letter format? Is it still an A? A 3.59 is just a B?..? Or do they just give numerical values?

So med schools do see all the other schools we applied to, because that shows up on the AMCAS print out? I thought they didn't...

They also see every speeding ticket, as well as your FBI file. can never be too careful. They call your first grade teacher to make sure that there have been no personality changes since then Oh yeah, you have ot submit to a psych eval as well. They will hook up a lie detector test as well as take samples of your hair for drug testing.

They also tested my ability to hold my breath underwater by dunking my head. 🙁

Uhh, I've seen what med schools get as a student interviewer, and A+s were there. Of course it still says 4.0 next to it, but I remember one particular applicant (an SDNer btw) whose transcript was like:

A+, A+, A+, A+, A, A+, A+, etc...

I was like damn!!!!! But seriously, I think they see your A+s. Also seriously, they don't matter. I doubt anyone cares about the difference between As and A+s.

A few other things I just remembered...they try to poke you in the eye and see if you do the Three Stooges block to test your reflexes. Then there is the Simpson's/Seinfeld quiz....better study those topics.

That's like my nurse friend's high school transcripts. We don't have any A+'s at my school, but my chem class gives out outstanding student awards.

Now that would get me in! What disease did Homer have when Burns covered Springfield???

I have a few A+'s, myself.

Here boy, here boy, I have your hero biscuit right here. Alert the media, a pre-med with some A+'s. Wait, the band for the parade is tuning up.

But my precious A-'s won't get taken away from me, will they?

You know, guys, this stuff is all really nicely laid out in the AMCAS instructions. I would highly recommend reading the document.

As for A+'s, schools can absolutely see them. For each class, two grades are listed, an official transcript grade (A+) and an AMCAS grade (A). Whether A+'s help is hard to know, but I'd argue that they don't do any harm.

Pfft....it's better to ask on SDN than to actually read those pesky instructions.... 👍

Seriously, thanks for the cliffs notes version?.. 😎
