  1. Pre-Medical
I am a pre-med student and am thinking about applying podiatry school as well.

If I read things on this forum correctly, pod schools don't replace but include all the grades.

If I finish retaking classes by June, my GPA would be around 2.9-3.0, and sGPA around 3.0.

My MCAT is 32 right now.

I have over 600 hours of hospital volunteering
300 hours of leadership position at the hospital volunteering program

1 year of leadership position at a school organization
3 months of non-clinical volunteer (conversation partner with the foreign students)
3 years of research and 1 published paper
2 years in pre-med club
1 year in pre-opto club

2 Science LOR
1 non-science LOR
1 DO letter

I hope to shadow a podiatrist soon so I can get a LOR

and I hope to get a LOR from a science professor at the CC that i'm retaking classes at right now.

I would like to know if there is anything I should do?

What are my chances?

As far as I know,

I want to go somewhere in CA, WesternU would be good. If not, anywhere.

recommend me some school lists!

Thank you!

Even though your GPA and science GPA are slightly below average, you have a incredibly good MCAT, one that would be acceptable for even some MD schools, so I believe you are great shape there.

The next thing and probably the biggest thing at this point in time, since taking any post-bac classes is a little out of the time frame for this upcoming cycle, is to shadow a couple podiatrists as soon as you can. This is not only is valuable for a letter of recommendation, but even more so is to decide whether you truly feel podiatry is a field you are going to enjoy for the rest of your career. At one point in time I was in your shoes as a pre-med student that wanted to treat patients, but really never gave much thought into podiatry. After being introduce to the field by many of my father's fellow physicians, I went on to shadow a few podiatrist and further researched the field, that's when I fell in love with the entire profession itself and bam fast forward to today and this is now my upcoming career!

Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions!

I would apply to all 9 of the schools if you can and if you don't mind living anywhere! Some of the schools with relatively smaller classes may fill up sooner like AZPOD and DMU, but there really is no indication that they will for sure and could have seats open all the way through. Each of the 9 schools has it's merits, and if you have the opportunity to interview at multiple schools you may find that you simply fit better at one rather than another. Applications are open for this cycle until June, so it's approaching that point to where you'd likely want to get all of this going pretty soon, especially with some of the wait times some individuals have experienced in the processing of applications and transcripts. Good Luck!
