If it's not already too late, I was looking at starting an application for DO schools in the morning. I am an AA Male from a Top 20, with a 3.4 GPA/31 MCAT. EC's are pretty standard: 2 years of research, 3 years part-time work, 1 year of clinical volunteering, shadowing, etc.

Do I stand a chance? Thanks in advance!

Sorry, this should be in Pre-Osteo. Would someone mind moving it for me?

Any LOR from a DO? It will help. Beyond that you're a great applicant. If you're going to apply this year apply NOW.

Best of luck!

No LOR. Would it be possible to shadow a DO and get a LOR after submitting my application?

Too late to shadow and expect to get a letter for this cycle. If you have an MD letter just use it

you are competitive for any DO school. However, if you apply next year for MD you have a GREAT chance there as well. You will probably be able to get into an awesome MD program as well as receive scholarship offers.

Don't apply DO. Apply MD. There is a great chance of getting scholarships if you do.

You're an AA applicant. Don't waste your time applying to DO. If you do, just submit your application anywhere you want. You'll get in.

I've had a rough cycle with MD, thus far. I've only gotten interview offers from top-tier schools and have been largely ignored by mid to bottom-tiers, both IS (Texas) and OOS. I still have 1 MD interview at an OOS school in January, but I'm quite concerned by the fact that I didn't get any IS prematch offers yesterday, when the largest batch was sent. I think this might be a result of my application being 'borderline' at the majority of these schools. I still have a chance of pre-matching later, matching, or even getting off the waitlist with rolling admissions, but I would like to make sure my odds are as high as possible.
