We do the same.
We generally start with asking the student to us us about themselves, their outside interests- this hopefully gets them to relax.
we also ask about outside the classroom activities - like research, volunteering, special dental projects, help missions.

Biggest suggest - be your self
PASS of interviews:
P- Presentation - look good, present with a wide awake rested appearance
A- Attitude – show you are interested, read the material about the
program, ask questions, show that you are willing to work
S- Scholarship – show you are qualified, explain your record (if any problems)
S- Skills – any special skills you have used like trips to tx patients,
volunteer clinics, Special programs you attended/gave,
foreign languages you speak.

that is some ideas

Hi,

thank you so much for your cooperation, I have one question regarding the interview : do you agree with mentioning of my plan after the GPR such as Perio board ?? or it is better not to mention that.

I am on the Resident Selection Committe for Christiana Care in Wilmington DE, a hospital based GPR program. My comments relate to me & our residency in particular, but are likely common for other programs as well.

Common questions: "Tell us about yourself. What are your strenghts/weaknesses? What are you looking for in a residency program? Why did you apply to our program? "

The interviewers (I believe) are looking for a confident individual, not cocky, with a good solid foundation of dentistry and the ability to work independently. Good board scores (above 80), good class rank & good gpa's are all important, but we really look for candidates who will work well with others (we're a 10 resident program!)--not necessarily the #1 student from the class.

I think it's fine and advisable to talk about your post-residency plans, if asked about it! Remember to be honest & open!
