I'm applying for another job as a tutor at my local community college. Figure I need to pick some more hours up. Hopefully they'll call me back. :xf:

I'm complete at most Texas schools now. I liked TCOM's secondary, short and sweet.
 
Working full time, taking a summer class, volunteering, writing articles for publication, hiking, reading a stack of novels I've been neglecting, and celebrating our first wedding anniversary. And of course, checking my email incessantly.

I'm not patient, so I have to keep myself busy.

I'm going to be tutoring at my CC too. Mine requires that tutors are current students, so if you're not taking classes you might have to register.
 
Oh I am so glad I found this thread through search. I wasn't quite sure if the terms used would work lol. I am hoping someone has some insight on this dilemma that may just be me being silly and an awful worrywart.

I just finished sending in my last secondary, and I am considering taking classes at the local university this fall, possibly anatomy and physiology or biochem. I was wondering if it will delay my application in any way, since I know applicants had to wait for their spring course transcripts from this year to be available before they could apply.

I want to take these classes partly due to my downward pattern in my sciGPA, but also because I think it would be helpful when I do get into DO school.

And to make things more complicated, I have to send in my shift schedule preferences by tomorrow for volunteering in the fall and winter. I've also already got one interview scheduled, and am still waiting to see if other schools would like to meet me...If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. I would ask my pre-med advisor, but she's not in her office during the summer. :I

+1 except for summer classes... Getting a job has particularly passed the time fast.

It wouldn't delay your application, I doubt medical schools would wait to see one or two course grades.

Medpr I am taking one class there this fall, however the manager told me they don't have enough hours for their current tutors.

Looking for a job like mad, but there just doesn't seem to be any where I live. Might have to start going for retail jobs.
 
I've become less neurotic about the whole process. I check a few of my statuses on a daily basis, but for the most part I'm just waiting to hear back. I don't jump everytime my phone vibrates or feel crappy everytime someone gets an II from a school that I haven't heard back from yet.

It's much nicer this way. Just relax and wait for it.
 
I have started golfing again...



It too bloody hot though. They need indoor golf...and not miniature.

I have done the digital screen golfing, which is fun, but way to expensive and I like walking when I play.


(I also still shadow, and volunteer(ER and with Refugee Services) once a week and work pt. And Ill take another semester of classes this coming semester)

Video games. I OD'd so much on video games that all I want to do now is just study... and cruise SDN.
 
I've been working full time night shift at my school. Taking one class in the fall (p chem) babysitting my daughter while my fiance goes to class and trying to get in as much cycling as possible! Still check my phone every 10 mins or so hahaha

Both. I have all 3 consoles (Xbawkz, PS3, Wii) and a decent PC for gamingz. I only brought my PC and my PS3 with me to medical school but I haven't even fired up the PS3 since I've been here.

Nice...yeah, I cant imagine theres a ton of time for gaming during the year. Nice to have for the breaks though
 
Started working in le hospital where I did my volunteer work. I'm glad I'm getting the 'omg please don't let me kill this patient' freak out done with before medical school. I can't imagine how people learn and have that breakdown all at once. Or maybe that's just me... I've had a code blue and a respiratory code already, and one person with a trach who almost face-planted on me. Also a brain injury patient who undressed herself in the hall while I was transporting her. Great fun.

Aside from that, taking more classes and reading medical memoirs. Guilty pleasures.

Better by Atul Gawande, Walk on Water by Michael Ruhlman (my favorite, about pediatric congenital heart surgeons at Cleveland, very thick with technical language though), Heart Matters: Memoirs of a Female Heart Surgeon (great book for underdogs). Currently reading Every Patient Tells a Story by Lisa Sanders, who was the technical advisor for the show 'House, MD.'

I go crazy on the surgery memoirs, which is funny because I want to go into primary care. 🙄

You just listed most of my favorites! "Complications" by Gawande, "How Doctors Think" by Groopman, the Kaplan Voices: Doctors series are pretty good too.
