I heard that some people relax the day before the exam..go for a massage/see a movie/etc...what do most of you suggest? go over some last minute high yield info or not even touch the books?

I know I'm just gonna review all the quick to forget stuff, like Pharm, Micro, and Bio. I'll have plenty of time to relax after the exam.

I'm still in undergrad but I thought i'd reply. I usually study my butt off the day before an exam and relax afterwards.

i made a USMLE WORLD notes set (about 100 pages of one line facts I thought were kinda cool/neat/important/or had trouble with that weren't in any other sources) and read through those. It took about 8 hours and took two hours off.

I had about 2 - 4 questions come straight off the one line U world notes so I was very pleased. I also got a massage but for me it was useless. The massouis (sp?) tried using armoatherapy and she kept commenting on how tense and how many knots I had, lol. The entire time I just laid there in a dark room thinking about certain pages in First Aid and regurgitating stuff to myself mentally.

So, my advice is, if you wanna take your mind off of the USMLE, you have to ENGAGE IT in something else like a movie. You can't just sit there and be silent or still and expect to NOT think about it.

This may take a few days of getting up earlier than usual, but make sure you're all set to get a good night's sleep. Going in rested and refreshed is probably the most important thing you can do for yourself on the last day.

I got a massage and reviewed all the drugs in FA + equations. Just have a plan, study if you want, and try to get your head in the game.

I went thru the free 150 again because I heard there were repeats. I got a haircut b/c I didn't want to feel bummy on test day. Went over pictures and radiology stuff. Looked at those HY sections in the back of FA and tried to relax as much as possible before going to sleep

Did there end up being any repeats?

I don't know if there were any straight repeats from the free 150 but quite a few of the questions seemed very familiar. I had done 3 NBME's and both UWSA's and the free 150 so it is hard to say where exactly the questions came from

Because I had already done it once before when I went thru it again it took less than an hour. I think it was time well spent.

I did have a question that used the same exact picture as a question on nbme6. (only remember it that specifically because I got it wrong the 1st time and asked some friends about it)

no caffeine at all the day before exam, was horrendous for me, because 2 days before exam i couldn't sleep either

went out for a good Chirashi with my mate. Talked about everything but medicine because he's a petroleum law major.

scored well. i am happy

Go over topics you want to have in your short term memory. Things like Pharm, Embryology, Lysosomal storage diseases etc.
