Im an IMG (permanent resident) that just took the Step1 and i got 221/92 and im currently preparing for the CK. But i wonder if i can reach any of the most competitive programns in IM, or should i forget about that because im an IMG? if i keep doing well on the CK, CS do i have the chance?

Please reply and give me some suggestions....

There is an advisor (IM program director actually) on the forum. I think he(or she I'm not sure) would answer better then anyone else.

AMGs love to get the most competitive IM residencies to pad their ways into Cardio or GI. A 221 is a pretty average score and thus isn't going to be enough to get you into those programs by itself especially if you're an IMG. I do think you have a shot if you're well published in the field, or have some other bonuses.

The most competitive IM residencies tend to be as competitive as any ultra-competitive field for the reason suggested by Pinkertinkle above. At most US schools a few of the best and brightest will go into IM and snag the more coveted slots.
IM is generally not considered as competitive a specialty as a whole because there are so many programs/slots compared to some other fields and so the bottom is somewhat lower, not the top. Plan to apply widely and be happy with the best you can get.
