Hi everyone,

I need to drop a course for a more manageable quarter schedule. However, I cannot decide between dropping AIDS Fundamental 045 OR Psychology Fundamentals 9B course.

As a premed, I understand the importance of Social Science courses because of the new 2015 MCAT test, however, the AIDS Fundamental course offers a program that gives me the opportunity for me to lead my own discussion section under supervision (~600 mins a quarter) if I do well in the course.

What are your thoughts?

Choose the one you can easily roll through and get an A in and enjoy the most. 🙂

Thanks cheechootrain for the reply. But on a side note does everyone feel the opportunity to lead my own discussion would be a strong EC for my application? I feel like I would be able to list it as a leadership position since I am leading group activities.

Oh yes, I would choose that over the psych class, if it was me. I think leadership experience is great. It's like icing on the cake. But make sure everything else is strong or it'll end up as train wreck.

"Empowering others" is a fairly large overstatement of what is achieved in an undergrad-led discussion session.

Haha There, it has been edited. But I would argue that through education, you do empower others to become informed citizens to make intelligent decisions. You are right, I certainly am not the course instructor/Graduate TA, but I am helping reinforce ideas.

Oh hey I know what school you go to =P I would take AIDS fundamentals. I never took it myself but a lot of my friends loved it and came back to lead the discussions. Also I love professor Fan(if he is still teaching it). He also writes good letters 😀

I normally would say keep psych, but if the aids one gives you leadership experience then keep that one.
