I'll be completing my UW June 5th and I was thinking that it would be better to focus on UWSA 1 and 2 questions rather than doing UW again, 2078 is alot for me. So far I took note of each question that I got wrong. basically since in UW they keep repeating concepts to make that many questions, i thought UWSA 1 and 2 would have the most important concepts that we need for the exam thus if I master almost every concept in these questions (total of 384) I should rock the exam. Do you think this is bad idea?

Thanks friends.

It's def not a bad idea, as long as you take care not to repeat your mistakes again.

While it's true that UW repeats many concepts, I would want to redo atleast the incorrect questions I marked before the test. You would have gotten used to the UW 'thinking' byt the time you end your UW and should be scoring well by then but ensure you tackle the incorrect questions once more before test day to optimize the best out of your UW experience.

And yeah, doing both the UWSA's is a solid task to top it up.

Good luck!👍

I disagree. I say do the questions over and over. I learned more from my second pass than I did from my first pass.

If you're getting what you feel is a skewed percentage because you remember some of the questions, it doesn't matter. There are things to be learned even from those.

Just my opinion.

You bring up something else I was thinking about and I'll ask here instead of making (another) thread...

Do you guys think its better for me to annotate my mistakes into FA or just make a separate study guide on crap i missed and read that on its own from time to time.

I only ask because its great to have everything possible in FA, but the pages are getting cluttered at this point and unlike in Rx where i knew exactly what page to turn to, I have to go hunting down the right page in UW and its taking extra time. But I'm just worried about generating yet ANOTHER source where I need to look in a yet another place to make sure I'm reinforcing things I need to know.

On the flip side.. if there are SO many notes in FA, theres a higher probability that I'll look over things in there isnt there?

I know this question is borderline overreacting, but I figured it was harmless to ask at this point since I'm only 85 questions into UW.

.

I found having a separate book with my UW info in it more helpful rather than choking my FA to death- not that it isn't anyway.

I do what you just said: read it time to time to ensure I don't repeat those mistakes.I did my first run of this and my scores climbed thereon.I keep my writing to bare minimum, just few words of the stem and key words of the edu objective , human memory can be amazing when you look at this later ,you can literally 'see' that UW page in your mind's eye.

My 2 cents.Do what works best- if you are taking up a LOT of time on UW such that you are not doing other resources for which you won't have time later, then it's clearly not working.

Yes i think im going to try it your way, i got plenty written in FA from USMLERx;

also this way, now I can type my notes and I can type wayyyy faster than I can write. Maybe I'll even separate where I write things by 'organ system' so that later on I can print the pages out and slip em in FA at the end of each section.

Cool, pretty neat.👍

Your notes would put my scribbled coffee stained UW binder to shame:laugh:

The problem with this idea(the typing part) is it requires 2 computers since the uworld software blocks you from running external software like the real test.

not anymore, you can run other programs now, i noticed that just two days ago, or maybe its just a glitch in mine

It seems you can run them, but you can't alt+tab... as in, while the test is open, it is the only thing allowed to be at the forefront. So this essentially prevents you from having a question and, say, a word document active at the same time. At least that's what it's been like for me. 😳

I run it on a mac.. it doesnt prevent me from using anything else.. in fact, i wish it did, because im in the middle of a block right now and I am responding to this post haha.

it just does not allow me to copy & paste while the software is open

Yup this is true if you're using a mac (conflict of interest: I use PC as well). 👍

On a side note: I'm going nucking futs reading this forum so imma take a SDN hiatus and maybe check in every once in a while (not that anyone cares) until I'm drunk and high after the exam. Goodluck to everyone, especially to those whose progress I have been following. Rainbows and butterflies y'all. Peace.

I tried it this way and was just too uncomfortable with the information being so separated.

Had a question on Paget's disease of the bone but it doesnt say anything about what the disease actually is it was just a stupid detail about it, and im like, what good is this by itself..

So i'll continue making a mess out of my first aid I guess.
