So I took the DAT today and scored right on average(ish)...and I planning to take it again early October.
Here is how I did:
Bio 19
GC 18
OC 17
QR 17
PAT 21
RC 14 (I run out of time+ I got the hardest passages EVER, one of them had 35 paragraphs!!!😡)

What do think I should do and what do think my chances are?
...also, if I take the DAT again in first week of Oct., do you think it would do any good for 2008 cycle? And how do I let the dental school know that I'm taking it again, so I won't be evaluated based on this DAT scores...should I call them or what?

Thanks in advance🙂

My science GPA is 3.2, non-science 3.38 and over all 3.3.

to be honest, to compensate for your below average gpa you should aim for a DAT score of 20. your scores overall are fairly solid, but that RC score will kill your application. there is a correlation between your RC score and your success in dental school. re-take the exam and shoot for 20's...

good luck:luck: jb!🙂

I agree with what the previous person said, your scores should be in the 20's to compensate for your GPA. Your PAT is definetley on point and if you manage a 19 on yourt TS and AA score you should be okay to get in somewhere. To solidfy your chances i would aim for a 20. Also you cant get below a 18 in any of the sections, because a lot of schools have that as a cutoff. I got a 16 on my QR the first time i took it and Retook it because of that. Also i feel you about that RC i felt like it was extremely hard i took the DAT June 29th. The second passage was soooooo hard, you need to just practice practice and practice. I was getting 20 on kaplan and topscore but luckily ended up with a 18 on RC.

When you say, practice, practice for RC.... do you have any suggestions for materials besides the usual: topscore, achiever, kaplan, barrons?

35 paragraphs. WOW. I guess I will skip that one if I see a 35 paragraph article.

No, nothing extra...Kaplan, Destroyer, TS and Achiever.
I guess it was partially my fault too, I didn't practice for the RC that much, but I was getting 18-20 on Kaplan/TS or even 17-18 on Achiever...I just got really unlucky I guess.
p.s. PAT section was NOTHING like Achiever....don't freak out.😎

Does anyone know what is the best way to let the dental schools know you are retaking the DAT again?

Write a letter to the admissions office they will add it to your file as soon as they get it and for the school that you really want to go to keep calling them to make sure they know.
