hi, was just wondering where i stand ....

3.7 gpa at the moment, 90 pcat ... BUT :

i retook alot of classes i got C's in, i retook a bio class after getting D TWICE, i have ummm 5 classes i retook overall... i want to apply to university of michigan , wayne state in michigan, and any pharmacy school in new york, what are my chances, will the retaken classes affect me badly...

Well, those grades aren't good but you've done all you can ask for with your high PCAT and GPA. I think your stats balance it out as nice as you could want.

You should still apply and I think that you have a good chance.

A lot of the schools have that space where you can explain anything you want to the adcom. Definitely write something about why you needed to re-take the courses and didn't do well the first time. Your stats are good, so you probably have a good chance.

I'm a little confused. How do you still have a 3.7 with that many C's and D's? Is this a 3.7 with grade forgiveness? or is this 3.7 on PharmCAS? If this is a 3.7 with grade forgiveness, you may want to revise your projected GPA down to about a 3.3 or 3.4 to be safe. You should then reconsider your chances with that GPA in mind.

3.7 without pharmcas, i got C's in my freshman classes, i didnt expect these "thoughts" to be this negative .... but thats cool , i asked for it ... lol

Do you have any pharmacy experience or extracurriculars under your belt? Good luck btw.

Well, do you want people to pump sunshine up your skirt, or do you want the truth?

you have to understand that even though your institution may grade replace, pharmcas does not and just uses an average of the two grades. use a GPA calculator and enter every single class you have ever taken - even twice - and then see what your real GPA will be.

try my schools GPA calculator out..its pretty easy

but keep in mind...do not enter "previous grade" b/c that is replacing!

sometimes persistence alone isnt enough.. you have to be realistic and evaluate your situation in the same way an adcom. will...only then will you really know what your chances are.

I think it depends if they will hurt you very badly. If you got those C's D's when you were a freshman and you're killing in all your present classes, probably not too bad because colleges care more about grade trends. Of course, I would explain why I got those grades. Maybe you had some personal reasons behind them that could give the ad comm a better idea. But your GPA and PCAT are quite solid. If you got those C's D's like within the last year, then...yeah they would probably hurt you greatly.

Pcat is great as for ur classes, what classes have u taken thats difficult or stands out such as biochem, microbio, cellbio etc if u havnt then u shouldve taken those classes to show u can perform well in academic rigor. Ur 3.7 could be simply inflated bc of easy classes its hard to judge but either way apply u have nothing to lose (except some money). u need a good reason y u didnt do well in those classes to begin with (work, family probs??) anyways gluck but damn thats a nice pcat score. 90's are always so hot.
