I just recently graduated with a BS in biology but because of the economy and family situations I have decided to work for a few years before going to medical school. I was wondering if being a surgical technician is view as a good or poor thing to medical school admins? Please let me know your insight?

my stats are: mcats: 36, GPA:3.0

Why would it be a bad thing?

Sounds like a good thing. Just be careful about letting that MCAT score expire unless you plan to take it again.

Being a surgical tech should not look bad to adcoms. It shows that you are interested in the medical field, particularly surgery. But something that will be more useful in the long run (i.e. when applying to a competitive residency) is research. If you can get one or two publications now, it will look pretty good when you are applying to med school and even residency.
