I have a interview at UF in December.

But on December 3rd they tell everybody if they got accpted or not. If I have an interview later, am i fighting for a waitlist spot ??

Not necessarily. They are gonna send out acceptances to fill their available seats... Prob half the people will decline their acceptance considering a lot of highly competitive people get multiple acceptances. So post-dec interviews don't automatically mean wait-listed.

I'm not sure about UF exactly, because I didn't apply there, but I know for the other schools I did apply to, post-Dec interviews are considered to be equally good. To a certain extent they could be considered better, because then you don't have to wait til X date to find out if you were accepted or not. A school I interviewed at told me that whoever interviews after Dec. 3rd, say they're interviewing on Dec. 4th, could find out if they were accepted on Dec. 5th.

Good luck though, and be confident with your interview, and I'm sure it'll all work out in your favor! 🙂

If you want the cynic's advice, post-December 1st interviews at state schools are usually for waitlist spots. Usually people will choose the cheapest option given the option between two schools. And more than likely if someone has gotten into UF December 1st, they're in state and not going to want to spend double to go to a school in a colder environment with a crappier name.

If that is the case for the most school... is that reasonable to assume that I can get the result within like... 2-3 weeks for my post-dec interviews?

Obviously I have no idea for sure, but based off of friends who have applied and other posts I've read here, I'd like to answer "yes" to your question, but I'd say that would more likely to hold true for those interviews that occur after the 30 day period that the first round of acceptances' students have to respond by.

If that didn't make sense, I'm hoping this example makes sense... student A interviews on Dec. 7th, student B interviews on Jan 7th (after the 30 day acceptance period is up), and both are accepted on Jan 21st.

This is what I THINK, not a fact or anything, but this is how I feel it works...
