What does controlling SDN content really mean?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

Does controlling SDN content mean having the ability to close threads or maybe it means having the ability to erase entire threads as has just happened to a thread I started 30 minutes ago?

To me this qualifies but who knows.

it's because you are a whiney bitch...i wish gavin would erase your damn account

I agree with ZDaddy. Stop being a whiny punk and Gavin will leave your threads alone. He's a decent guy who is just trying to keep this forum on track.

I once went to area 51 with a family member that worked there and they showed me

Then the tour was done and my eyes were still poping out of my head!!!

Who the hell edited my last post?!?!?!?!??!?

Speaking of deleting accounts, there you go with the personal attacks again. You must be mailing Gavin a lot of cookies to still have an open account.

No, it's one of those unique situations where if I take action, guests claim that I'm being oppressive.

If I do nothing, guests claim I'm not enforcing the TOS or rather enforcing them in a lopsided manner.

Controlling content means:

1. moving threads to where they belonge (CLEARLY the recent threads you have started do not relate, in any form, to the dental forum --> violation of TOS)

2. to "moderate" your use if you personally attack someone (just like what you just did in your earlier thread ---> violation of TOS)

3. to ban trolls like you

4. to modify posts if they violate TOS (you must have them all memorized by now, i assume)

you seem to be the type who always had and will have problem with authority figures (did you hate your RA??) grow up and learn to respect those who work for you.

p.s Gavin; does this thread really belonge to here??

Hey J2AZ, why are you such a little bitch? Does it upset the little baby that all his friends aren't playing nice and fair? Waaaaaaa, Waaaaa, Waaaa! Shut the **** up. Try making friends away from your computer and maybe you'll feel better.

We accept advertising as a means to support the operating costs of the SDN. However, advertisers do not have any oversight or input on the content of SDN. Additionally, SDN has regular contact with many organizations within the medical education community. However, SDN serves as an independent site and has no direct relationship with any school, professional organization, or company, other than its parent organization, The Coastal Research Group a 501(c)(3) charitable educational organization.

I highlighted my concern.
J2AZ, you are absolutely correct on this matter. ItsGavinC is in direct violation of this rule. He is an advertiser, and he is a moderator. As a moderator, he has regulatory oversight over the content on SDN. This is evidenced by the fact that your last thread "To Gavin with love" was conveniently closed after ItsGavinC made the last post. This action is an example of the reason why a confilict of interest statement even exists.

I do not expect that ItsGavinC will give up his position as a moderator or advertiser, nor do I expect that he will edit/delete the ensuing posts which will undoubtedly be filled with personal attacks against me by members who cannot argue the points in this post. Perhaps you pointed this out because you have an axe to grind; however, whether or not this is true is irrelevant. The rules on SDN exist for good reason, and no one should be held above the rules.

Some of you take this forum way too seriously. If anything that happens on this site bothers you for more than the 30 seconds it takes to read, it's probably time for you to get away from your computer. This is NOT real life, folks.

J2AZ-There is some great advice regarding this situation HERE . By all means, use it.

I actually agree 100% with him.

And you all should be banned for cursing him. Last time I checked that VIOLATES SDN rules.

Its odd that when someone swears at a person who insults gavin that they are not kicked off, yet if I cursed you I get a hold on my account.

FAIR?

What's the question here? Of course Gavin uses his presence on SDN to make money. Yeah it's a conflict of interest. But if you think about it, considering he probably spends 6 hrs each day of his pathetic life making love to his keyboard on this forum, it probably works out to 2$ an hour.

I think some of you people need to put your computer down, go outside and live for a minute or two.

"Outside", what is this "outside" you speak of? I've heard rumors of such a place, but I'm a firm believer it doesn't exist.

Just to clarify. We do not permit advertising on the site unless it is by a paid sponsor. Moderators are not exempt from this rule. Gavin has a paid sponsorship contract with SDN, just like our other sponsors and underwriters.

Gavin has been a moderator on the site for years. He did not become a sponsor on SDN until he launched his site in June.

We do not find any conflicts with his sponsorship of SDN and his volunteer moderator status. Additionally, when posts are reviewed, there has been no evidence of conflicts or inappropriate promotion of his service.

This thread will be closed as it contains multiple TOS violations. Additionally, it is clearly a personal attack by someone with an agenda.

SDN welcomes feedback regarding moderators. Should there be any question in a moderator's judgment or behavior, please address it with one of the three administrators on the site. We will review the situation, and counsel or remove the moderator if necessary. But as noted above, in this instance, there is neither a violation nor even a hint of moderator conflict.
