Context: Applying to medical school. Submitted both Primary and Secodary

Lol you people are silly

But what? I'm not getting an interview...

finish incomplete thought!

it wasn't an incomplete thought. you haven't been rejected YET. i didn't include a period because the process isn't over, either. you could be interviewed and you could be not interviewed after being pooled, but the important thing about the pooling step is that you WERE pooled and not rejected.

in other words, it means nothing.

(it seems to be the same as being on "hold")

Basically, it involves you being on your knees with 12 guys forming a circle around you.

It means they threw your application into a:
1. any communal combination of resources, funds, etc. a typing pool
2. (Group Games / Gambling, except Cards) the combined stakes of the betters in many gambling sports or games; kitty
3. (Business / Commerce) Commerce a group of producers who conspire to establish and maintain output levels and high prices, each member of the group being allocated a maximum quota; price ring
4. (Economics, Accounting & Finance / Banking & Finance) Finance chiefly US
a. a joint fund organized by security-holders for speculative or manipulative purposes on financial markets
b. the persons or parties involved in such a combination
5. (Group Games / Billiards & Snooker) any of various billiard games in which the object is to pot all the balls with the cue ball, esp that played with 15 coloured and numbered balls; pocket billiards
vb (tr)
1. (Business / Commerce) to combine (investments, money, interests, etc.) into a common fund, as for a joint enterprise
2. (Business / Commerce) Commerce to organize a pool of (enterprises)
3. Austral informal to inform on or incriminate (someone) See also pools

It means that you applied to a school that has two phases to their interview invitations If you get into the "pool" or "small pool", that means that your application has made it past the first phase, and is now in a smaller group of applicants who might receive an interview.

The "pool" holds more people than there are interview invites, so being "pooled" does not guarantee an interview, but it does mean that your application has been seen and approved for possible interview.

I'm guess that OP is talking about MCW because that's the only school I know of that uses the term "small pool", although I could be wrong about this.

UVM also pools. The pool consists of about 2/3 of the people who complete the secondary.

So....not "small". But still a pool.

Hi, I was wondering how exactly you knew you were small-pooled and how to best proceed from there? I checked my status and it basically said my file had been reviewed, but no decision has been made yet for interview. I didn't receive an email with this information however. Thanks in advance for input.

I'm pretty sure the dean has challenged you to a game of pool. It would be wise to accept.

It's when a girl takes a jar of peanut butter and.... sorry can't explain it I might get banned
