What does it mean to receive request to sign up for CERTIPHI?

I received an email from CERTIPHI. The email says I have been waitlisted or conditionally accepted by one or more schools. So far I have not yet been notified to have been waitlisted, I can only think of one school that might have been giving me the waitlist without telling me. Does this mean I am waitlisted at that school? No other schools will release acceptance info until Jan 30th.

Could it also mean that one of my accordances so far is an conditional one? I am not aware of any condition attached to any of them.

I'm a little worried and confused! Thanks for your help!

It means that the schools where you have already been accepted want you to sign up to get your background check rolling. Certiphi is the 3rd party organization that does applicants' background checks for the AAMC/through the AMCAS service. "Conditional acceptance" likely means that you're accepted but of course that depends on passing your background check and meeting all the school's requirements.

Yes, you are correct. Acceptance is "conditional" at pretty much every school because you still have to meet all their individual matriculation requirements. I definitely know that passing the Certiphi background check is required at the school where I've been accepted.

God so much like! Thank you! I am worried that this meant I was silently WLed. Now I just have to worry that I may not pass the background screening because of my years of gangster life. Joking. ^_^

I just authorized certiphi to release mine. Did your report by any chance state that the SSN Validation System in unavailable? I noticed this after releasing, so am not sure if it's a problem...

Not trying to hijack the thread, but once the background investigation is done, do we have to do anything to send it to the appropriate schools, or does it just happen automatically?

cj you can either release it or it releases automatically in 10 days.
kjw mine didn't say that, but that isn't in your control so that isn't a problem

I actually haven't received my request to do one yet either, but I know for a fact that it is required.

I haven't received a request either. Like secondaries I guess they do them in batches.
