You're thinking too much of this. It's a simple comment from your interviewer wishing you the best. Of course it has been experienced before.

OMG....people are more paranoid than me!!! 🙂 ....I got that comment after both of my interviews...and noticed they are saying it at least 5 times during the interview day....

It means that you have no chance of getting in. He is mocking your pitiful application and interview attempt. He went straight to you file, took out of big stamp that says REJECTED, laughed and said "GOOD LUCK KID" and slammed it down.

He speaks the truth.

What does it mean if they shake your hand before you sit down?

Why are you messing with poor guy or girl... (ecorohs).....we all know GOOD LUCK is very common phrase you hear from everyone at interview including your interviewer....even the bus driver who was dropping us off to different buildings said GOOD LUCK!....and one of the Dean said it to whole group after tour.

and what if they cough when you answer "why dentistry?"

and what if they grind you about your state school???

and what if they say thank you for considering XYZ dental school...tell you to close the door behind you when you leave and pose another question while you were approaching for the door?

and what if you answer to that last question standing by the door ..then say thank you and they laugh???

and what if you were wearing a bracelet given by another dental school you interviewed at earlier and they ask you what that is ? and you immediately take it off and tell them "nothing"....

I think we need a computer to solve these what ifs.....

Yes that happened to me in one interview other than ...bracelet part..it was another guy after me and we both had the same interviewer .......

I am really hoping they will call me as that school is my top choice.

Hi guys,
I had an interview 2 weeks ago and the interviewer told me goodluck after interview.
Is it good thing or bad thing? Has anyone experienced this before?

He means good luck somewhere else. You basically bombed the interview.

j/k. It is common that they say that. They are just being polite.

Major SDN-itis to the max..............................................

This paranoia is a sickness. We all need to chill the fux out and go take a breather. For the love of everything precious please don't dwell on your interviews. You'll end up with all sorts of sleepless nights filled with regrets. Before you know it, you're a wrinkly old geezer/hag.

yep so grab some of your closest friends, a few cases of beer and enjoy the weekend!

Someone told me they could noticeably see how people aged during dental school. We're not even there yet, but I can already notice my hair receding and some grey hairs. I guess I'm screwed, when I get out of school I'll look like a geezer. Oh well. I remember dr DP saying on here once that the older you look, the better haha.

I've had a few gray hairs at the crown of my head since high school. I just pluck them out, no big deal. The other day I parted my hair differently and found about three long, shock-white hairs. This prompted me to look carefully and it turns out I have WAY more gray hair than I thought, it's just well-hidden. Greaaaaat. I'm 21. I am not ready for this. By the end of dental school I fully expect to look like my 58 year old mother.

like... did he actually SAY "goodluck" and what was the tone like?... like, was there a break between the "good" and "luck"?... like, sort a little pause in between?

Omg don't think about it too much

Sent from my SGH-T999 using SDN Mobile

Interviewer: "Good luck."
You: "Thanks!"
Interviewer: *...Because you'll need it sucker!*

On a similar note, what does it mean when you're discharged from a hospital and the nurse says, "I hope to see you again?" Does it mean the nurse hopes for physical harm to come to you so that you'll end up hospitalized again or does it mean the nurse hopes to cordially cross paths with you again because of your pleasant nature?

When your dad says, "Go break a leg," before your Karate tournament, does he genuinely wish malice on you to extent that you'll break your leg or wish to give you encouragement to try your best?

http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/Good+luck!

There's two ways to interpret "good luck," with one sincerely wishing good luck and the other making a sarcastic remark.

1. a wish of good luck to someone. Mary: I have my recital tonight. Jane: I know you'll do well. Good luck! Sally: I hear you're leaving for your new job tomorrow morning. Bob: That's right. Sally: Well, good luck!
2. You will certainly need luck, but it probably will not work. (Sarcastic.) Bill: I'm going to try to get this tax bill lowered. Sue: Good luck! Bill: I'm sure I can get this cheaper at another store. Clerk: Good luck!

Not one of us can read minds.

Also why do we say sorry to someone who opens up to us about an unfortunate event such as the death of a family member. It's not like we murdered them and are asking for forgiveness. We aren't admitting to guilt because we did nothing that directly caused their unfortunate event. Idioms these days are idiotic...

Yes, he did say "Goodluck" but I am not sure whether there was a pause in between the "good" and "luck" bc it was 2 weeks ago....
Have you ever heard this before?

omg yeh.

the pause in-between is basically him saying "your DAT isn't high enough, we'll be going with another applicant, thank you for your time, good *pause* luck"

but if there was no pause, thats just him saying "wellllllll we don't know yet, but goodluck anyways"

That's why I am sad. He has a power to accept me or at least he can recommend me for acceptance, doesn't he?
I don't think my interview went well but anyway I am so sad🙁

Yes the person(s) you interviewed with can recommend you, but they typically don't make or break your acceptance.

Your interview may not have gone well, but it's over now. You can't change anything at this point so it doesn't pay to ponder these sorts of things. Stop worrying about it and stop being sad. You'll drive yourself crazy. It's done and if it went well enough, you'll find out in a month. If not, there's other schools and/or next year. Get out and do something fun this weekend.

Thank you for your advice!
Bombed interview -> rejection or still a chance?

depends on how much weight the school places on the interview...

I was told, "take care of yourself"! I over thought it too! I've been waiting since Oct. 5 and I feel like time is slowing down!!!! Lol I'm trying to quit thinking about the interview, I've already over thought the whole thing many times over!
