Hi, I'm new to the forum here and just had a few questions about the PCAT.

First, what does the test cover? Just the things you cover in your pre-requisite classes?

And second, I read that people normally take the test the fall before they will be starting pharmacy school. But I also read that you can continue to take classes up until the summer before pharmacy school and that it's not required they all be finished by the time you interview. So wouldn't you be missing some of the information if you took the PCAT before you were finished with all your classes?

I would appreciate the help. : )

You're going to want to check out the PCAT thread. Click on "pharmacy" at the top and the look for PCAT link. Also, go to the official PCAT website to learn about the subjects covered on the test and their approximate percentage within each section.

Oh duh! Sorry for posting this here. I didn't even realize the PCAT had it's own forum. Thanks for your help.

Still, does anyone have any suggestions about my second question?

It's true that many people take the PCAT before finishing all of the courses...I'm one of them because I took it in January without taking Physics and OrgoII. You can get away with taking the exam without all of the classes, but the bare minimum should be GenChem I and II, Orgo I, Bio I and II, and Calculus. I also studied using several prep materials to learn. Check the PCAT board for more info.

You should be fine if you finish Gen Bio and Gen Chem and atleast one semester of Orgo 1. As for the math section, study the essentials of statistic/biometric and Cal 1 (the basics of derivatives and integals). It's hard to learn the Verbal, you either know it or you don't. Just practice so you can get acquainted with the form and material.

Hi all, can someone tell me if my scaled scores that ranged from 353- 450 are better or may be I should flush it and take another pcat? Also, the wrtting score were 3.0 conv. of language, 2.0 on problem solving, and if these are better?

What is your percentile rank in each test?

verb. ability = 362/4
biology = 402/51
comp. = 374/6 etc. thanks.
