What does taking Step2ck early mean?

I hear this a lot nowadays. If someone needs to improve on their step 1 score when is the latest they can take step 2ck so it influences interview invites. Some say immediately after 3rd year (july), but i also hear many saying--before october? What do people think?

You want your score back by Nov 1 (MSPE releast) at the latest, preferably earlier if your Step 1 is low enough to get your app screened out (like in time for ERAS to open 9/1). I think USMLE quotes 6 weeks for scores to come back. So, early to mid-July if you want the scores back by 9/1 and early to mid-Sept if you want them back before the MSPE comes out.

yeah you probably wanna take it july august time frame to have it back in time to put on your apps

Really? I'm planning on taking it at the end of October and I definitely want to improve from my step 1 score (228). If I take it then and do very well, will it still help with getting interviews even if it isn't included in the MSPE?
