What does the AAMC verify in the AMCAS?

I don't really understand why it takes so long to verify the AMCAS. Isn't it just making sure that whatever you put under "Course Work" matches up with your transcript? What else do they do?

Actually, considering the number of applications turned in, they are moving along fairly well.

They also have to verify which classes are BCPM vs AO, if your grade matches, and if the credit hours match. I'm sure there's some idiot out there who thought he could pull a fast one on AAMC and nudge up the number of hours in a few of his A classes to boost his gpa lol

I had a typo on AMCAS. I type "A-" instead of "A." The verification did not pick up this typo, even though my AMCAS GPA was different from my transcript GPA. I had to email them to correct it.
