hi i was wondering for people called to toronto for interviews what do thay consider people are called with 76 or 78 % even then are their english scores considered or their past marks in dental school what if you failed an exam in dental school will thay not consider you then

Hi

From what I know they do take 'BIG 'notice of ur past scores and to some extent toefl scores too. Rest it is anybody's guess as they never give u the reason why u were not called and people with lower score on ACFD than u are called for the interview.

thanks for replying i was really getting confused as to what to do i am regiving the exam i know my week points were pharma and dental mat. also o.p level needs to be more decks just were not enough however i dont want to lose a whole year as toronto manitoba only except may results however now im going to reply are you in a college or giving exams by the way do colleges only give you one chance and do you know if a suppli or fail in dental school will take away my chances

Hi Yamini

This is how it works u write ACFD exam and start applying . In ur caes u will upgrade ur result in sept which is good. The university where ever u apply has a panel and this panel sits together and reviews all applications and decide whom to call for the practical exams. It depends what the university wants from ur application. No set criterias. Once ur called for the practical exam the next level of evaluation starts and from this stage everyone r equal or at the same level. Now the biggest criteria next is how well u performed. If u do great u get in irrespective of the fact u have 80% or 90%( but it should be decent not too low also). If u do well or good but not that much that u get selected but u r in the waiting list then u have a very good chance of getting a second chance next year. If u r not good u have a very slim chance of being called again or given another chance as they have a very high number of applicants and very few seats. For eg Manitoba has 5 seats calls 20 persons for practicals and they at an average would probably be getting atleast 200 applications. So u see if u do well they will feel this person was good but 5 people were better last year. She satnds a great chance to improve and would most probably be in here if given another chance. But if u dont do well they will probably think that we gave her a chance she was not up to the mark why give her another chance why not a new applicant who might do really well. This is just an example.

As far as ur answer to the question whether they will consider an application with a suppli I dont know they dont have any specific criterias but u do stand a better chance with university of western ontario as they invite a lot of people for practical exam and then for them ur performance in the practical dominates the decisin to select the right candidate.

yeah the hardest part is getting the interview...but once there....your clinical hand is very important. you should get whatever edge you can get. what really helped me in all my interviews where getting a pair of dental loupes and using those for all preps. if you can get a pair on your own thats great or borrow some that will help....if anyone is interested i am selling my pair on the classified section of sdn...

good luck 🙂
