What drugs would you bring?

what happens when those who chose FQ's get a c.diff infx 😛

im never very good with these questions...i can never choose. i would need some topical steroids though...my eczema would go crazy in the humidity.

Why did I have this as an interview question lol. But the answer is simple:

1. Cephalosporin or Tetracycline (or some baseline antibiotic)
2. Aspirin (for pain in my feet, eyes, head, stomach, etc.)
3. Sunblock (don't want to get toasted and have skin problems).

These could get me through for a while. 😀

Alright, you and your significant other will get stranded on island for some length of time. What three drugs would you bring (be specific - indicate the drug name not the class).

Hmmmmm, significant other........haven't had one of those in 8 years, so, if I had to reside on an island with one, I would need:

1. alprazolam 2 mg PO every 6 hours as needed for significant other talk you would rather not remember in the morning (ie, 98% of it)

2. hydromorphone 8 mg PO every 2 hours as needed for "pain" (includes pain secondary to significant other talking too much leading to severe headaches/brainaches)

3. aspirin 81 mg PO daily so I last longer than she does

Viagra? It is an island for God's sake. It is not like she is going to have too many options. It is you or a monkey.

i would bring viagra because even though you may be the only guy on the island with your gf, your thingy may not be working well and you need to perform well to satisfy her.

Where are you going to find enough water to take your ASA and avelox on an island?

If you don't have drinking water, you're not going to live long enough to give a crap about antibiotics. 😛

3. Just plain isopropyl alcohol to clean up potential scratches from the bushes
You're braver than I am. Isopropanol on open wounds? Why not clean it with water, then use triple abx ointment, which doesn't sting like hell?

1. Tigecycline -- If I were desperate, I could probably hit one of my own veins -- heck, I'd use my feet if I couldn't manage with one hand.
2. I'm still struggling with the NSAID vs. opioid question.
3. Zoloft

you could always do a fecal transplant :scared:

oxycodone
tetracycline
marijuana

Couple problems with the tetracycline. It increases your sensitivity to sun, so you're going to end up with some nasty burns after passing out from all the oxys and MJ. It also might cause you to properly concentrate urine, so you'll have a tough time staying hydrated.

Unless you plan on treating plague or anthrax, I'd switch that to something else.

I had this question on one of my residency interviews, but not involving a significant other...

1. Ibuprofen (> morphine for sprains/dental pain)
2. Imodium (you never know what you're gonna be eating...)
3. Dramamine (in case we try to escape, I'd need it)
