I was just wondering how versatile is a degree from a Special Masters Program if you don't end up going to medical school? I know that with an MPH you can go into clinical research, but how could a degree in physiology or medical sciences help you career-wise?

I hope my question is clear. Thanks.

It's not geared toward anything other than getting into med schools. The knowledge you gain from taking med school physiology, histology, etc may make you a more attractive candidate for some research jobs, but it doesn't really train you for hard core research as a traditional master would. You may get slightly more salary as a Research Associate due to the MS degree.

Would an MPH be better in a situation where medical school isn't a certainty?
