I called AADSAS to get the status of my application, and they keep on saying that they process applications as soon as they come in. From what I have gathered on these forums, all they do is photocopy your app and mail it to schools along with your letters of rec and transcripts. Do they do anything else? It seems like 4 weeks is a long time for them to just copy and resend everything to schools.

im pretty sure they also verify the grades that you give them on the application with the official transcript they recieve in the mail...but still, i hate the fact that it takes so long to do that...

i dunno, but they don't do much. $85 per school? ridiculous.

They are the great equalizer in terms of paperwork. That is, they keep all the applications standard so schools know exactly what boxes to look at for what information.

As another poster said, they also verify everything and make sure that grades and transcripts are official, as well as letters of recommendation.

How do they verify grades if they send out an app before they receive transcripts.

they don't send the app TILL they recieve the grades 😉

I'm convinced that they do absolutely nothing besides take your money away.

They lost two rec letters i sent to them and after three days of them searching they found them somewhere. If i hadn't had been checking the status of the letters online i would have never known.

Basically you enter all your information at one place and they process the information and send it to all the schools to save you trouble, but it's really not that convenient and doesn't save much time.

Maybe it's just me, but i wasn't that impressed. And three of the schools didn't use the AADSAS service anyways.

Most of us are taking it from the wrong angle. No doubt, AADSAS sucks for the applicant for the most part. They're expensive, lose stuff, and slow. But AADSAS doesn't really care about us. Their customers are the dental schools. AADSAS caters to the dental schools not to us applicants, so if you keep that in mind, it all makes sense.
