What exactly is the humanistic domain of the PE about?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

Sure, that’s part of it, but it’s also about asking questions correctly and responding to patient concerns with the correct phrasing from what I’ve been told. I have heard of very kind-hearted people having problems with this because they might not have told patients what they wanted.

Smile , pretend to care, be their friend, be human, be vulnerable and likeable and not cocky.
It’s a known fact that the people who grade and watch your videos are NOT the same people who grade your write-ups, and they don’t even know match the video to the write-up. So just yeah, be kind and pretend you’re doing OMM on your grandma and or giving STD advice to your brother (lol but really tho).

To this sage counsel, add "make eye contact and be empathic".

Empathy, appropriate eye contact, face the patient, no inappropriate touching/creepiness, use drape to cover when appropriate.

Yes. Also, being able to answer "probe" questions of the "my father had _____ and this happened, does that mean it'll happen to me?" format. Sitting down, acknowledging their concern, and addressing the uncertainty (I'd like to finish taking your history and do a thorough physical so that we can get the best picture of what might be causing this, if that's okay).
