Pascal8, what did you end up getting in Step 1? i kept looking for a post with a stellar score, but it never came. I guess ur just being modest.

and now i see that ur promoting kaplan materials, which is hilariously IRONIC given your previous comments about how anybody recommending kaplan (including myself) must be a kaplan employee or have other monetary gains. did kaplan recruit u after ur stellar score?

I only referred to YOU , not just anyone using kaplan books . Take it how you want and while you are it get a life ..seriously ...

and if you would like to actually SEE my stellar score - I can send you the authentic report . I did pretty ok - I got a 245 . Is it stellar - maybe , maybe not ...it is what it is ...

btw Lanky -anyone can claim online to have a 265 + - does that actually make it true ?

and i never figured out why you suddenly decided to pounce on me specifically. I was just passionate about sharing my secret to success.

In any case, congrats on the score and there are no more harsh feelings (at least on my part).

absolutely. actually, instead of releasing my USMLE transcript for residency applications, I just attached a link with the URL with my Step 1 post. it must have worked cause I've already gotten early interviews from great places. (oh wait, i might have made those interview offers up too).

I'm sticking to my naive view that NOT everything on SDN is a lie.

neuroanatomy made ridiculously simple is an easy read, and it's about 10 bucks on the internet.

I would recommend reading it in 3 sessions, maybe 2-3hrs each session depending on how fast you can absorb it.

the "gingerbread men", etc analogies will help a lot of you don't know your brainstem cross sections.

I wish i had that book during my neuro course during the first year.

oh, i also bought HY neuroanatomy and memorized the MRA's - those were pretty good even tho they didn't come up on my exam.

Oh good grief. Are you kidding me? Did you REALLY feel the need to post this? Just answer the OP's question.

HY Neuro and FA are solid for USMLE purposes. Neuroanatomy ridiculously simple is ok, but HY is better in my opinion. CNS vascular pathology was very high yield on my exam (be able to recognize hematomas/hemorrhages/aneurysms via head CT).

you guys want to hear my theory?

Some people never grow out of high school. Especially for future doctors, what a shame.

So I was going through Kaplan neuro and I hate it. Is FA enough for neuro?

Kaplan neuro is horrible. There's a system to understanding neuro that makes it very doable, Kaplan fails to do that (I feel like its one of those classes where the prof can make a huge difference). Kaplan's pretty good for some other subjects though.
