I was wondering what courses get calculated into the BCPM (i.e. I did a lot of anatomy, microbiology, biochemistry, etc type of courses and was wondering if I classify them as health sciences courses do they get calculated in the BCPM or are they calculated in the AO)

Thanks!

As the name suggests....Biology, chemistry, physics and math.

I know that some of my courses which are science based aren't considered BCPM. I took an alternative medicine course which wasn't included. You can inquire about it or just let AMCAS sort it out when you submit it and perhaps run the risk that it gets processed a little later.

statistics = math
I was thinking the same thing, but hesitated because I know there are some stat courses that cross-courses. They're listed under psychology, but it is primarily a math course. It's "psychostats." I'm not sure if its considered BCPM or AO since the course name starts with PSYC.

IN the HELP part of the AMCAS application, they list what course names go under which heading. They have the headings and then common course names.

Like Biochemistry, goes under Chemistry. At my school, it goes under biology.
Like Pharmacology, goes under Health Sciences. At my school, it goes w/bio.
Like Black Studies, goes under Special Studies. At my school, goes w/soc.

My stat classes were under Economics 😕

What about a Health Sciences course?? Would that be included in the BCMP. And what about something from "molecular biology" not "biology".

Thanks.

Inquire...were they cross-courses. Doesn't hurt to ask.

My health sciences courses were not calculated under my BCPM. I know someone who did get there Epidemiology course in their BCPM because it was listed as a biology class on their transript. Mine was listed as community health sciences on my transcript.

It depends on the course. Undergraduate lower level courses were considered BCPM on my AMCAS. However, my alternative medicine course was not since it was considered a health science course.
