what happens after interviews?

I am done with my neurology interviews, and will be taking a few interviews for the prelim year in january. I am lost about how things work out after that.
I know that someone will call us on Jan 27 to tell us where we matched.....


My top ranking places have an integrated prelim year. So, who do I sign the contract with (medicine or neurology). Also, is it all efficiently done by mail, or will I have to travel there? I am also totally in the dark about licensure issues.


As you can make out, I have no clue about what happens after Jan 18. Any pointers would help.

just thought i'd add-i think with most places, even integrated prelim yr, you need to still submit a rank list for NRMP in march. ie its all setup through neuro/you have the spot at the program, but they rank you #1 or high, you rank them, etc. in order to make it legit. this is what i've been told by programs.

as far as what actually happens or needs to be done after the early and regular match, i dont know, i doubt you have to travel to the program before you begin in june/july, im sure your dean will explain specifics as some point as well/at or after match day...regardless you'll have matched, everyone in your class will be going through same post match process,and im sure its no big deal whatver that is. wish i could add more, havent given much thought to it, and ill be on the other side of the earth for 2 months when this happens, and im not too worried about it..

As far as I know, someone will call you on Jan 27th and if you still haven't heard by the 28th, you can call the NEMP. I actually know some neuro residents who got tired of waiting for the phone call and just started calling programs and asking if they matched there! After the match, they'll probably send you a contract and you sign it and send it back. It's usually very efficient and I've never heard of anyone having to physically visit a program. Plus, they can send the contract etc to you by courier service if you're out of the country, so that's not a problem either.
As far as prelims, if you had to apply to a programs prelim separately, but it is guaranteed, then you'll probably have to submit a rank list to the NRMP. There are a few integrated programs, like Wash U, which do not require a separate medicine application....so I'm not sure if we would need to even submit a rank list for that. I'm sure our programs will let us know the prelim info/procedure etc on match day.

I am pretty confused about what is going on. However, so was I about the application and interview process before it all started. I guess they worked out fine, and I should be okay with the post match paperwork as well. What makes matters complicated is that I am an IMG and am planning to go back around the match day. I see no reason to extend my stay, but just want to check around for it.
