Double posting to get input from current pharm students...

I have been trying to find relevant information with no luck.

Does the AACP have any protection for the students of a class if a pre accredited program closes?

Are the students entitled to any sort of waiver of educational loans from the government?

Are the students guaranteed to be accepted elsewhere if the school closes?

If the students go elsewhere is the coursework guaranteed to be transferable so that the student can enter as a 2nd 3rd or 4th year?

Thanks

I don't think so. They don't dictate transfer policies or have anything to do with loans.

I guess I meant to ask if the AACP requires the preaccredited program to have any sort of agreements with surrounding schools to allow its students to transfer in case of closure, before it allows the program to accept its first class.

In addition I guess the loan question would be re stated to ask if the federal government allows any sort of loan forgiveness due to school closure.

Thanks

Nope. That would be an insane requirement.

AACP has nothing to do with anything here.

ACPE on the other hand...does require schools to have some sort of "exit plan" should it fail the accreditation process. I've never seen one, though. My best guesses, with respect to students, are:

1) if it's within a larger university, they'll just award you some units for credit completed and have it count toward some random "medical sciences" degree.

2) they'll issue you some sort of worthless certificate

No other pharmacy school would ever take on the liability/touch those courses you have taken, though. That would be insane and stupid.

Basically, if a pre-accredited school closes on your watch, you're screwed.

If a school looses its accreditation, it would be idiotic for another school to grant credit for those classes. If the school is so bad - why would another school lower their standards to take in those students (who probably are sub-par students anyway and that is why they applied to a school that was not fully accredited)
