This summer before my freshman year I took Chem 1 and Chem 2 at a State University. I would like to study abroad and I realized the only way I could manage it is if I took Chem over the summer because it's a prerequisite for so many biochem/premed courses.

Soo I got a B- in Chem 1, a B+ in Chem 1 lab. I took college algebra along with Chem 2 and lab during the second semester. I have a chronic illness that flared up during the last 3 weeks (ie, half the semester) and I ended up dropping the lab. I got an A in algebra and a D in Chem 2.

What happens if I just don't transfer my credits from that school? Would I have to report that grade when I apply to med school even if it's not on my transcript? My freshman adviser said I must send my summer transcript to my school, but is it really mandatory? (and she wasn't saying that in relation to anything med-school apps related, just that my school needed to have it)

btw, I think I deserved around a C and the professor messed up on part of my grading but it's been 2 months since the course ended. I had a really hard time getting in touch with him and when he finally answered my e-mail he just dismissed me and never replied to my e-mails again. I kind of just gave up after that.

Also, I'm taking organic chem right now because I was in the process of taking Chem when I registered, and I seem to be doing fairly well.

Thanks for your input! I'm at a complete loss for what I should do.

I'm sorry to hear that your effort to get a headstart didn't work out well for you. In the med school application process you are obliged to submit a transcript from every post HS institution attended. The med school application services have a way of knowing what transcripts to expect due to a National Student Clearinghouse database. If you "forget" to submit it, the verification of your transcripts will be delayed. Whether you send a copy of that transcript to your current school or not, it will still matter at med school application time.

While for the most part this is right on the money, just to clarify, you need to report all college classes, even if you took them during college. I'm pretty sure Catalystik meant that, just wanted to make sure it was really clear.😀

Just like you meant during high school right? Every class you've taken through a college or university including community college classes taken as a dual enrolled student in high school needs to be counted.

Wow. I went to correct someone else mistake, and I made the exact same mistake 🙁. I fail
