So, on my AMCAS, I listed one of my research activity as what I will be doing during my gap year. But this morning, I just got an email from a professor from a presitigous medical school who is a HHMI investigator, offering me a research position.

Is it okay if my " future planned activity" changes? I already submitted my AMCAS, so do I have to notify the medical schools about this? Or do they know that people's "future planned activities" do change from the time of submission?

It's fine if it changes. Especially if your new gig is cooler (application-wise, anyway) than the old one

A lot of secondaries ask you to talk about what you plan to do in the year between submitting the application and matriculating. You can talk about your new gig there, or if the secondary doesn't address it, send an update letter later in the season.

if the secondary asks, should I even mention that my original "future planned activity" on my amcas is no longer happening, and that I am doing this new gig?

Or should I just mention the new gig and don't even need to bring up what I put down on my AMCAS primary?
