I am still a beginner and was curious what may happen if you don't get in? I know it is a simple question but I was just curious on some options

I'm guessing you receive a rejection letter and move about your business. You could always contact the program and ask them how you could strengthen your appellation in order for reapplication in the cycle. It's the nature of the beast, the majority of applicants will receive at least one rejection letter unless they are have a 4.0, 340 GRE, 1000 hours of volunteer, and exception interpersonal skills that are displayed during the interview process.

If you don't get in, then you often get put on a waitlist and get to pray that accepted people turn it down. Lots of people get in on the waitlist. From what I've heard most schools will give you some idea of why you were rejected if you ask and you can address those things for the next cycle.
