okay, here goes.
Right now I feel like I am out of shape, I am working on trying to get back into shape for ODS. this is giving me some anxiety, becuse I have a ways to go. I am not fat, I had no problems with H/W, I am just way out of practice.
Here is my question- What happens if you fail the first PFT at ODS?

When are you going? And have you already been accepted for HPSP?

Even though I am Army I have been using this workout plan and it works!
As for running just slowly increase ur distance. Once you get to ur distance then slowing increase you pace. Im sure you will be fine!

Yes, I am in. I am really excited to be apart of the US Navy! This is the only thing that really stresses me out about it.
I have plenty of time to get into shape, I just hope I can keep myself motivated. working out has never really been habit for me.

thanks for posting those links. that plan definitely beats my makeshift schedule.

salazaar: from what i understand, if you fail the PRT, you get put into remedial PT every morning and are PTing when everyone else is doing something else (in addition to normal scheduled PT). you won't fail after that.

If u are having trouble pushing yourself to go to the gym get a workout buddy. I had one in undergrad and he lost 40 pounds working out with me. I can say that when you know there is someone waiting for you to be there, it is a strong motivator to go. Also, if ur still in undergrad, if there is an hour or two time block between classes, that time is an ideal time to go and workout...I used to go veg in my room during this time but then I utilized the time for the gym. Find a pattern that works for u.

Good Luck!

I know it's hard to believe, but pretty much everyone who passes the entrance physical exam possesses the ability to pass the PRT. If you fall below the minimums when you take your first PRT at ODS, you may be placed on remedial PT. At the end of the six weeks, you'll be in good enough shape to pass.

Alternatively, go ahead and make yourself an exercise schedule now. The ones on the navy-prt site are fine; there are others if you look around a bit. Just pick one and stick to it. You'll see; there will be dramatic improvement in as little as a month.

As previous posters have said if you don't pass the PFA on the first try you get placed into remedial PT,which really doesn't suck all that much since there isn't anything else to do there and most people exercise anyway. There were people in my class who never passed the PFA, mostly people who came in out of shaped and then injured themselves right away. They graduated anyway, and there's no black mark on your record since the PFAs at ODS aren't official.

There are only two things that can actually cause you problems with your graduation are being too fat and not being able to swim. If you can't pass the swim test you can't leave, but the swim test is so basic I don't think anyone has ever failed to pass within the allotted time. If you're a med student and you show up too fat to reasonably lose the weight by the end of ODS, though, they WILL send you home (or delay your internship an keep you there, if you're going after 4th year). If your weight is alright, though, you have nothing to worry about.

thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate it.
