...your educational portfolio?

We've all taken (some yet to take) the Biochemistry, Organic chemistry, Microbiology etc.

But what is everyone taking to diversify their educational background, in preparation for application to dental school?

Are you taking courses requiring manual dexterity? Sculpting? Ceramics?

What about accounting and business management? Business finance?

Second languages to offer to more clientel?

Social sciences? Ethics?

We all know shadowing a GP and logging some hours is key to application, but what are some other interesting options to volunteer in, in our field?

Spill it.. 😉

Digital Design Fundamentals, Electrical Networks I, Structures/Properties of Materials, Numerical Methods for Engineers, Engineering Mechanics, Electronic Circuits . . .

Too bad I didn't finish the curriculum.

You can probably add research to that list.

in her drawer, what exactly does a course in "Structures/Properties of Materials" consitute? I'm curious. 😀

Sounds like my curriculum. Too bad I did finish mine.

I took a wide range of courses to help make me stand out. I didn't want to look like a straight biology major, so I took courses in business management, finance, philosophy & ethics, several psychologies, foreign language (spanish), art, etc.

Painting, drawing, sewing ( I fix clothes and make clothes on the side for extra money)

History, politics, geography, Shakespeare (URGH~)

Took Sclupture (and loved it), will be taking metal work/jewlery, Philosophy of Medical ethics, 2 theology, 2 history, bunch of other core classes...im sick of broadening, I want to narrow down a little.

I really wish I could get myself into a sculpture class, however my current undergrad institution requires a ridiculous amount of art prerequisites to get in.

Narrowing to the sciences can be great if that is what you enjoy (such is the case for me). However, I think it would nice to break all the heavy academic courses with something in the art field. Possibly even business managment.

I want to sculpt!

Oh i definatly recommend taking art classes, especially sculpture. My teacher wanted to know if I ever thought about a career in art...I was like well, no, dentistry actually. But there are a lot of things in sculpture that will help in dentistry...takes the same eye. Id like to take more 3D art (I suck at anything 2D) but Im just sick of all the theology/history/english/philosophy/etc. classes that are mandatory for the core.

Differential Equations with MATLAB 😀 I liked it
philosophy of education, Adult Health Development Program ( hangin out with senior citizens once a week), Research ( Enviromental chemistry)
After graduation, I will take business managment, and may be skelpting at a community college b/ce it is cheaper😀
I will try to get me a job @ a dental lab if I can.

I took elements of design, drawing, sculpture, equine classes, business management, writing arguements, special needs individual in society, exercise physiology, medical ethics and medical terminology, human gross anatomy with dissection and a BSN in nursing. Working on a masters in nurse practitioner now. Ummmm, ya. Can't quite figure out what I want to do when I grow up😉
