My transcript is composed of classes from UNLV and CSN (the local community college).

I am going to NYU/local NY community college for a semester or two but plan on graduating from UNLV.

How would it look if I had some courses from NYU next semester and some online classes from UNLV next semester too?

The attitude toward distance learning credits varies by school. Some are very open to it (except for prerequisite labs) and others are not tolerant. You might want to call schools you plan to apply to and check on their policy so there won't be any surprises for you come application time.

Well it's not technically called "distance learning" classes that's a separate degree.

These are just online...you get a regular degree.

The courses are still "technically distance learning." A separate degree would be an "online degree." The courses you are referring to sound like they are being taken online, correct? That is where the problem comes in. Taking courses online is not generally known for being the best route to learning nor is it the most rigorous. If you take prereqs online, many schools will at least look upon those courses with some doubt and, at worst, may simply reject them as fulfilling prerequisite requirements. You should contact individual schools. My personal suggestion would be to simply avoid taking courses online. There are bound to be some CC courses available, at minimum.

As a general rule, the general consensus seems to be that:

online/distance-learning << community college < 4-year university ≤ top UG

I am in a similar situation: I am planning to take an engineering class at a University this summer, and another class at a community college. It wouldn't be online/distance learning, as I would still go to the community college, but when filling out the application, the two classes from two different institutions would be during the same semester..which may look strange.
