Hi all. I will be applying this may 08. I only have 1 C- on my transcript. i know this doesn't look good, that is why i am planning on repeating the course. however, i cannot retake it until next year, after i had already turned in all my apps. do you think dental schools will automatically reject me? my top choices are BU, Tufts, NYU, USC. What do you guys think?

Ugh. Another "I got one bad grade and my life is ruined" thread. No. No one will care if you have one C-. Just have a good reason if they ask.

QFT

if the c- is not in a required class, you're not "ruined." If it is in a pre-req, you might have to take it again. last i recall they only accept c's. at the end of the day, if you have time you might consider taking it again

I received a C- in Physics. I spoke to the Dean of the school I am going to and he said that as long as it was a passing grade in my college (which it was), they will take it. He also said that they would not have accepted me if I didn't meet all of their requirements. After he said that, I told him that I was in progress to take it for the next semester. He said that if I am going to their school, no need to retake. All in all, depends on the school. Call them up.

On a side note, I applied to all 4 of the schools listed by the OP. I received interviews from 3 of them. Went on 2 of the interviews and am accepted to both of those schools.

I have faced the same problem. I have a 4 units of ochem with a C- and 8 units with C and C+. I just got my admissions package and they require the transcripts by April 15th. C- is a passing grade at my university. I have signed up for 5 Semester units of Ochem at a community college and will have the grade by June.
I haven't talked to the school yet and I am extremely worried to lose my slot. I'll call tommorow morning to speak with them.
Are schools really strict about their deadlines or can they give an extension on an indivudual bases? (considering April 15th is still early to have all grades in)

Shayan, my opinion would be for you to call that particular school and ask about that.

Sorry I am not up on my info here... Whats QFT?

I had a D+ on my transcript and there is no way I am retaking that stupid class.

QFT is a way of preserving the comment on bboards such as SDN where you can go back and edit your comment. This way what you wrote is there more permanently. Lopy was preserving that "no one will care" quote as a joke. QFT - Quoted For (From) Truth
