Can anyone tell me what happens if someone doesn't match? Do they scramble in the same specialty that they applied for? Can it be anywhere in US? Or they scramble for rotating internship? No one I have asked seems to know...any help is appreicated.

I don't believe you that no one at your school knows.....
yes they scramble, in the same field if they can, otherwise they try prelim/transitional and reapply the following year, or some do change fields. they can scramble only to programs that have an open spot and are interested in taking someone for that position.
