What if you shadowed a DO, but they did exactly the same thing as an MD?

I've shadowed two DOs before (orthopod, & internist) and they did nothing different from the MD physicians in their group practice. Like zero omm, anything you really considered DO related. How would you go about answering questions like "why DO?" if they do exactly the same thing?

Ya I get that, but how am I suppose to answer the question "Why DO?" if they both do the same thing from my experience

You could talk about that during the interview! It's the spin that you put on it that's important. Something like, "I shadowed a DO and didn't really notice a difference in their methods of practice. They both provided the same quality of care for the patients. However, from my research, I understand that DOs are ____ (usually more hands-on, offer OMM, etc) and I would really like to offer that type of care for my patients in my own practice..." or something like that. I wouldn't outright lie, but just talk positively about what a DO degree could offer you and how you hope that the school could help you achieve your goals.

This helped a lot. Thank you!
