What if I have been accepted to pharmacy school, but my letter says "Your admission is contingent upon your completion of any in-progress and/or planned course work indicated with a grade of 'C' or better." That would normally be fine except im taking some of the hardest upper level physical biochem, biology, and physics classes to finish my degree in may. Is this statement just for people not finishing pre-reqs or everybody? I would hate to not be able to attend in the fall because of a stupid calculus-based physics or some other class that counts nothing for pharmacy school....just graduation...

I would think that means everything you are currently taking. Don't worry too much....just maintain your focus on passing your classes with a 'C'.

Congrats!

I have to "earn a grade of at least B for each remaining course attempted." I have lots upper level classes since I am finishing up my BS.

A "B" never felt so hard to attain......

I mean, bombing one test in class with three exams will make B pretty unlikely, I was hoping my acceptance letter would relieve some of the pressure, but I am still feeling it now.

Bah...my letter said that I had to maintain my current academic level in the required courses, which happened to be 4.0. Talk about pressure to not even get a B.

Thats my fear this semester. Im taking Orgo II and its an arse kicker.

Ugh. Good luck to you guys, especially imperial frog (congrats on the 4.0 btw).

My last final of my undergrad career was orgo II. To make it even more fun, our prof decided that he wouldn't write the final - he used the ACS ochem exam, which tests on both ochem I and II. I hadn't had ochem I in over 2 years. I had a ~93% in the class going into the final, which was 25% of our grade. I think that I calculated that I needed to get a low D on the final to keep an A. The prof decided to use the scaled score (as in a 50% on the exam would put you in the 65th percentile) to calculate grades. No problem, right?

But, this final was on the day before graduation, my family was already in town, and I really didn't want to study (especially things like naming conventions, which I was weak on). Long story short, I got a B in ochem II 😀

i just got a reply email from the pharm school office....she said that the statement of C or better was only for pre-req classes....

I knowwww, I'm so scared that i'll ruin my future because of Orgo II. I'm having SUCH a hard time and my teacher is not very understanding! I cant even re-take the course if I don't do well because UIC doesn't allow that 🙁 ...this class is seriously taking the joy out of my acceptance 🙁

Just make sure you keep up with the reading and work problems right away...DO NOT SLACK OFFFFF!!! Organic is not that bad if you do it for a coupla hours each day. If you're like me and kinda slack off til the week before the test, then yea you'll be screwed. It is definitely not a class you can cram for the night before! I'm struggling because I didn't follow my own advice 🙁

I was told I was rejected because I had a D in a non-prepharm class. I'll try not to rant, but some schools may not sympathize if you do poorly in a really hard class. Their argument was that it shows I can't handle a full science courseload.

Moral of the story: Be very careful about what you choose to major in. That one really hard and impossible-to-like class during the middle of your senior year may make you have to wait another year to get into pharm school.
