I'm pretty sure I am in the same boat as most of you with the fact that I am just waiting to find out if I get into the MOT program or not. I don't have the luxury of applying at multiple schools as I have the joy of owning a house that I owe more than what it is worth thanks to the housing market crash. That being said I pretty much had to put all of my eggs in one basket.

Knowing this I have been stressing myself out like you wouldn't believe with the "what if I do not get accepted into the program" scenario. I could always wait a year and apply again to the same school and hope I changed something enough to get in the second time around, which is probably what I would do. But if I continue to get denied what can I do for a career when all I want to do is be an OT? There really isn't to many job opportunities for a Bachelor's of Science in Health Sciences.

Have any of you had these thoughts cross your mind? If so what are some of the options that you have come up with? I've thought about trying to get a teaching certificate and hoping I can get a job as a health teacher or some sort. That really isn't a great plan B as teaching jobs are really hard to come by right now........even though there is a supposed teacher shortage. Hmmm strange I know. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck on your applications everyone. 😕

Hello Marine07. Like you I have only applied to one school coz I can not simply uproot my husband and children to move with me to another area.

This is my first time applying and if I don't get accepted this year, I plan on getting my massage therapy license while working on improving my application for MSOT next year: retaking the GRE, doing more volunteer/shadowing hours.

If I don't get accepted again next year then I will concentrate on specializing in medical massage and probably set up my own rehab clinic and then hire OTs and PTs someday🙂

Are there any OTA programs near you? That might be an option.

@ OTHopeful- That is a good plan, but doesn't it take about 12-18 months to get a massage therapy license?

@OT2Be2013- There is an OTA program here at one of the local CC but the waiting list is almost 3 years long.
